This novel is free at the moment and features ancient life in Wales, UK.
Throughout mankind's history, tales have been told and facts recorded. However, not much is known about the personalities behind the events. Sarah Woodbury has used her author's imagination to create romance and show why people did what they did in those dire times when murder was acceptable for a royal person to gain power.
I found this novel hard to concentrate on at the beginning due to so many characters named. By the time I finished reading, I knew several characters and appreciated the surprise ending. Gwen, the main character plays the role of spy-cum-murder-solver in Wales' past, where princes struggle to reach the top and use any means available.
The writing was good, and I don't blame the author for mentioning so many characters. They were all necessary and well researched in the country's actual history. Many people will appreciate the trouble taken to stick to the facts. What makes this outstanding is the way Sarah has delved beneath the surface to find the human connections, loves and emotions.
