Along with the intrigue of policies and matters of state, family problems, and trying to separate those who are loyal from those who harbour murderous intent, the guileless mind of King Bewilliam struggles with conventional behaviour for women. The subject is approached in a light-hearted way, yet equality between the sexes is still relevant today (although we don't have many knights left), as is the topic of gender bending.
I finished the novel within two days, and long for more of King Bewilliam's adventures.
