Death in July - a review.

The plot in this novel caught me up like rushing wind after a bus, and carried me past minor shortcomings in editing to follow a great plot. Before long, Sam's intrigue in the case he's been given swept me away. I didn't have to think, Sam did it for me. He was me and I was him as we puzzled out the case, coming to a halt at every advance.

Most of all, I liked the author's empathy and respect for the elder people he meets. He sees them for what they are, now and in the past. I raced through the reading of this novel and never wanted it to end. So glad there are more books that follow Sam's life.

The novel is free at this time. Take advantage of the offer to read a great book.
